Wayne County Public Health has a Certified Lactation Counselor who can provide free in-home visits, breastfeeding support, and education for breastfeeding moms and/or anyone interested in breastfeeding.
Breastfed babies have a lower risk for:
- Asthma
- Obesity
- Type 1 Diabetes
- Ear Infections
- Diarrhea and Vomiting
- Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS)
- Necrotizing Enterocolitis (NEC) (in preemies)
