Breastfeeding
Wayne County Public Health Certified Lactation Consultants can provide free in-home visits, breastfeeding support, and education for breastfeeding moms and/or anyone interested in breastfeeding.
Breastfeeding is the most natural way to feed your baby.
Breastfed babies have a lower risk for:
- Asthma
- Obesity
- Type 1 Diabetes
- Ear Infections
- Diarrhea and Vomiting
- Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS)
- Necrotizing Enterocolitis (NEC) (in preemies)

- Breast and Ovarian Cancers
- High Blood Pressure
- Type 2 Diabetes
