Breastfeeding

Wayne County Public Health Certified Lactation Consultants  can provide free in-home visits, breastfeeding support, and education for breastfeeding moms and/or anyone interested in breastfeeding.

Breastfeeding is the most natural way to feed your baby.

Breastfed babies have a lower risk for:

  • Asthma
  • Obesity
  • Type 1 Diabetes
  • Ear Infections
  • Diarrhea and Vomiting
  • Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS)
  • Necrotizing Enterocolitis (NEC) (in preemies)

Mother’s who breastfeed have a lower risk for:

  • Breast and Ovarian Cancers
  • High Blood Pressure
  • Type 2 Diabetes
