Children With Special Needs Program
Early Intervention
Overview: The Early Intervention program is for infants and toddlers from birth to age three who have developmental delays and disabilities. The purpose of the program is to ensure that those children identified as having a delay or disability receive the services needed to maximize their developmental potential. Early Intervention can be provided anywhere in the community – in the home, in childcare centers, playgrounds and libraries…any place children go for learning, care and fun.
Eligibility: Children may receive Early Intervention Program Services (EI) if they are birth to age three and meet eligibility criteria for developmental delay, or a diagnosed physical or mental condition that has a high probability of resulting in a developmental delay (in one or more of the developmental areas of: physical; cognitive; communication; social-emotional or adaptive).
Services include but are not limited to:
- Full developmental evaluations
- Physical, speech and occupational therapy
- Service coordination
- Audiological evaluations
- Teacher service
- Reimbursement for respite services
